2018
- Simulacra began to be published in June and November by Center for Sociological Studies and Community Development, Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura.
- The first Editor-in-Chief is Medhy Aginta Hidayat, PhD.
- Within its first year, this journal has had ISSN (2622-6952) and e-ISSN (2656-8721), as well as had DOIs for each article published.
- In 2018, Simulacra publishes eight articles for each issue. In this same year, Simulacra has been indexed by Google Scholar and Portal Garuda.
2019
- Simulacra has made several important changes. Starting in this year, each edition of the journal contains nine articles.
- In the beginning of 2019, Simulacra has also collaborated with APSSI (Association of Indonesian Sociology Study Programs) and ISI (Indonesian Sociology Association) for the for review process and dissemination of its articles.
- In this same year, Simulacra has been indexed by a number of prominent indexing services: DOAJ, Google Scholar, Crossref, Dimensions, MDPI Scilit, PKP Index, ROAD, and BASE.
2020
- In 2020, Simulacra began to use the journal logo in the journal website header. The logo was made by Shukron Fauzi and Ahmad Ali Haidir.
- Starting from this year, Simulacra has been supported by a number of new advisory board members from abroad: the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia, Israel, Japan, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
- In April 2020, Simulacra was officially accredited by Kemenristek/BRIN as the national journal of SINTA 3.
- Starting from the June 2020 edition, a new layout and font update for the PDF version was also carried out with a more modern and comfortable article design to read.
- Starting from the June 2020 edition, the citation and references format for this journal follow the APA Style 7th Edition (click here to see the guide).
- Since the June 2020 edition, all articles published in Simulacra are in English.
2021
- In January 2021, Simulacra was officially accredited by Kemenristek/BRIN as the national journal of SINTA 2.
2023
- Since Volume 6, Issue 1, June 2023, Simulacra has been published with 10 articles per issue.
- Since June 2023, Simulacra has been using a new front cover design with a large Simulacra logo and a gray background.
