Peer Review Process

HER journal uses the double-blind review for a peer-reviewed process and will be reviewed by at least 2 (two) reviewers. It means the author would stay anonymous to the reviewer and vice versa. HER journal receives articles in English or Indonesian. After the reviewers review the article, the author should respond to the comment from a reviewer in the response sheet. Then, the revised article and response sheet must be uploaded to the system as evaluation sources for an editor to decide. HER journal committed to not offering a fast-track policy, and our policy is based on the FIFO (first in, first out) principle. There are four types of editorial decisions, which are:

Decline submission

The decision is final that the article does not meet the minimum requirements to be published in HER journal. The author prohibits resubmitting the article even after it was revised.

Resubmit for review

The decision showed that the article is still acceptable but needs significant revision to level up the quality of the article. Revised articles will be resent to the same reviewer as in the first round to evaluate whether the comment’s reviewer was accommodated. The process could decide whether to decline submission or revision. Thus, there is no guarantee that after the article is revised once, it could be accepted immediately.

Revision

The decision showed that the article is acceptable but needs minor revision to polish the article to make a solid impact.

Accept submission

The decision showed that the article was accepted to be published in HER journal. This editor's decision only covers a substantial aspect. In the following states (in editing), the copyeditor will evaluate the article to recheck grammatical and writing aspects. The accepted statement will be notified to the author as a notification email that contains information about editor decisions: Accepted submission. The administrator does not produce a soft or hard document.

Ethical Statement

HER Journal follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for its statements of ethics.

Allegations of Misconduct

HER Journal takes seriously allegations of misconduct pre-publication and post-publication. We will assess any information to identify any misconduct. If the allegation is confirmed, we reserve the right to take action including, but not limited to, publishing corrections, retracting the article, resolving this issue with the head of the department or dean of the relevant author institution and/or academic body or community, or take appropriate legal action.

Authorship and Contributorship

HER Journal obligates the authors to explain the originality of their works and avoid duplicates. It should be noted that HER Journal does not accept any articles submitted to other types of publications (journals, proceedings, book chapters, etc.). The authors must adequately cite all works mentioned in the articles (articles or data set) in the body text and the reference list. Self-citation is allowed as long as it is relevant to the topic discussed.

Conflict of interest/competing interests

Since conflicts of interest may influence the judgment of authors, reviewers, and editors, authors should avoid conflicts of interest or the appearance of conflicts of interest throughout the research process. All such interests (or their absence), such as roles in a project or funding source, should be stated explicitly by authors upon manuscript submission. Such a statement will be published within the article if the manuscript is published. If there is doubt about whether a circumstance represents a conflict, it should be disclosed so that Editors may assess its significance. Any queries about possible conflicts of interest should be addressed to HER Journal.

Data and reproducibility

The Editorial Board or peer reviewers are responsible for identifying the use of fabricated data. If a suspicion arises, the Editorial Board will ask for opinions from more than one additional peer-reviewer and discuss with the authors. HER Journal also has the right to check data sets from the Author if there is concern about data fabrication.

Retraction policy

The article published in this journal will be regarded as retracted in the publication if :

  1. They have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g., data fabrication) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error)

  2. the findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper crossreferencing, permission, or justification (i.e., cases of redundant publication)

  3. it reports unethical research

Please note that retraction means that the article is maintained in the platform and will be watermarked “retraction.” The explanation is in a note in the platform abstract, and the information about the author and affiliation will still be published.
