Peranan Perceived Peer Pressure dan Search for Meaning terhadap Academic Resilience Mahasiswa di Surabaya
Abstract
Permasalahan stres akademik akibat tuntutan tugas menjadi hal yang kerap dialami oleh mahasiswa. Hal ini membuat academic resilience menjadi faktor yang penting untuk dimiliki oleh mahasiswa guna menghadapi berbagai tanggungan akademis. Dalam mempertahankan maupun meningkatkan academic resilience, di sini perceived peer pressure dan search for meaning berperan cukup penting dalam menjadi prediktor dari variabel tersebut. Hal ini diakibatkan oleh sebagaimana, sebagai dewasa awal, keberadaan peer dan pencarian makna hidup merupakan dua hal yang krusial dalam kehidupan mahasiswa. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya hubungan antara perceived peer pressure dan search for meaning terhadap academic resilience pada mahasiswa di Surabaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk kuantitatif dengan desain regresi ganda. Populasi penelitian merupakan mahasiswa aktif di kota Surabaya dengan sampel berjumlah 208 responden. Teknik penelitian yang digunakan adalah accidental sampling dalam bentuk non-probability sampling. Penelitian menemukan adanya pengaruh perceived peer pressure terhadap academic resilience sedangkan tidak ditemukannya pengaruh search for meaning terhadap academic resilience (R²= 0.387, yielding to peer pressure [p value= <0,001, Standardized estimate= -0,431], resistance to peer pressure [p value= <0,001, Standardized estimate= 0,326], peers encouragement [p value= <0,001, Standardized estimate= 0,310], search for meaning [p value= 0,385, Standardized estimate= 0,050]). Di sisi lain, ketika search for meaning diuji secara independen, pengaruh dari variabel ini pun tetap signifikan (R²= 0.030, p value= 0,012, Standardized estimate= 0,173). Disini dapat disimpulkan bahwa perceived peer pressure berkorelasi secara positif terhadap search for meaning. Penelitian lebih lanjut perlu dilakukan atas search for meaning sebagai variabel mediasi pada pengaruh perceived peer pressure terhadap academic resilience.
