Abstract


Indonesia is a developing country with 38 provinces with a variety of diversity. Indonesia itself still faces many problems, such as the high level of poverty. This research took subjects in North Sumatra Province which has special features that can be used as research subjects regarding poverty in that area. This research aims to analyze the influence of population, per capita expenditure, and average length of schooling on poverty in North Sumatra Province in 2023. This research was taken as an effort to help formulate appropriate solutions to overcome poverty. This research utilizes quantitative methods using cross section data. The results of this research prove that population size has a positive and significant influence, the average number of years of schooling has a positive and significant influence, while per capita expenditure has a positive and insignificant influence. In the per capita expenditure variable, there is no significant influence on poverty in North Sumatra Province, so the government's role is really needed in looking at it from a cultural perspective, people's thoughts, and in terms of providing employment opportunities by adopting appropriate policies to overcome poverty in North Sumatra Province and the level of welfare. society can improve.
